Perhaps more announcements are coming that will make some of these wishes come true. With movies like Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe going back in the vault later this month, they could have capitalized on the exclusivity of making these movies available only on Blu-ray as a way to make the format more attractive to fans. No other studio has the library that has such mass appeal, and I think many more people would stand up and take notice if movies like Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and the Toy Story movies were mentioned as coming out in 2007. I can't help but think, however, that Disney could have delivered an even greater boost to the Blu-ray camp by at least pre-announcing more of its classic titles. All of these movies are the type of titles that the HD formats are going to need in order to catch the attention of the movie fans looking to watch something great on their new HDTVs. Releasing the two Pirates of the Caribbean movies right before the next one releases in theaters is a good strategy. The Rock is nearly a classic, and Crimson Tide is no slouch either! Cars is a great movie and it's going to look fantastic in HD, and Open Range benefits from great landscapes and tight action shots in the gunfight that Westerns always bring to the screen. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. There's a lot of name dropping and multiple mentions due to the different regions of the world that are covered in the press release that I've included at the end of this article, so I'll summarize the North American release schedule: March 2007 Disney's home entertainment arm Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment decided to announce its world-wide Blu-ray high definition releases for 2007 all at once.
